The China Coast Guard (CCG) said on Tuesday it lawfully took control measures against multiple Philippine official vessels engaged in illegal activities within the territorial waters of China’s Huangyan Dao.

According to CCG spokesperson Gan Yu, the Philippines organized more than 10 government vessels to intrude into the territorial waters from different directions. In response, in accordance with the law, the CCG implemented measures including verbal warnings, course restrictions, and water cannon spraying.

At around 10 a.m., the Philippine government vessel No. 3014 ignored repeated warnings from China and deliberately rammed a Chinese coast guard ship in what Gan described as an “unprofessional and dangerous manner” act.

He said that the Philippine side’s deliberate infringement and provocation were of a “vile nature,” stressing that the Philippines bears “full responsibility” for the collision.
