How to choose interior doors?

Interior doors have been and remain the most important detail of the interior. They define the look of any room, so they should be not only practical and functional, but also cozy and presentable. Making a wise choice is not an easy task, so a few tips will not interfere with any owner.

Types of interior doors

Doors designed to delimit rooms differ in several ways at once. If you choose according to the design mechanism (principle of opening / closing), then there are 4 main categories of doors. Swing. The most common choice of buyers. The slabs is attached to the hinges, and you need to open / close them with movements towards yourself and away from you. Some models can open in both directions. Swing doors require additional space for swinging open. Sliding. Compact compartment doors. The door leaf moves to the sides with the help of rollers. Folding. This type is divided into two subspecies – “book” and “accordion”. They are similar in principle of operation, but differ in the number and size of sections. Swivel. The latest type of doors, the work of which is based on a rotary mechanism. Swing doors will save space in the room, and you can open them in any direction. Doors can also be classified according to their design. There are such types: Standard doors – “singles”. The doorway is completely closed, their classic width is 70-80 cm. Bivalves. The slabs consists of 2 parts. Double doors are purchased for wide doorways. Both halves are often workers. One and a half. In such models, one part is a full-fledged slabs that performs standard functions, and the second is static, characterized by a smaller width. If necessary, the fixed part can be opened to widen the opening. Another parameter of interior doors is their direct device. There are two main types: Shield. The simplest model, in fact, is a continuous layer of material. Products can be solid or have a “sandwich” structure into which the filler is poured. Modern technologies make it possible to design panel doors in a very elegant way. Paneled. A prefabricated model, the composition of which depends solely on the invention of the manufacturer. They have frames and crossbars. The rest of the space is filled with panels, giving the sash a non-trivial look.

Materials

One of the key parameters when choosing is the material of manufacture. To date, the most common are the following: Wood. Natural and expensive material. In budget products, wood is used only for the frame. Valuable varieties of wood have an unusual texture and high strength, are distinguished by the variability of colors and a long service life. MDF. Good replacement for wood. From MDF create a lining of a wooden frame. From the inside, the doors can be filled with cellular cardboard or similar material. Plastic. Such doors are often bought for office premises or balconies, as well as rooms with a high level of humidity. Outwardly, they look very solid and presentable, but they are cheaper than the two types discussed above. Metal. When creating interior doors, aluminum or stainless steel is often used. Metal is usually combined with other materials (eg glass). Glass. This material is mostly used for inserts and decor, but there are also full-fledged glass door models. They are suitable for the most modern interiors. For the sake of safety, the glass must be covered with a protective film. Producers of interior doors In the domestic market in recent years, leading positions have been occupied by firms producing not very expensive, but high-quality doors. This is due to the difficult economic situation, which forced, for the most part, to abandon the elite models. However, consumers have not noticed much of a difference as the remaining manufacturers continue to produce a consistently high quality product. USA. In recent years, door manufacturers from the America have gained great popularity. In terms of “price-quality” ratio, they outperform many foreign competitors. This became possible thanks to the application of the experience of past years and the latest foreign developments. Israel. Of course, products from this country cannot be called the most budgetary, but they are clearly cheaper than goods from Italy and Spain. And thanks to the amazing quality, Israeli doors deserve to take a place in our rating and modern apartments, because it’s better to pay a little more once, but then forget about the issue of interior doors for many years. Minus – a very narrow selection of interior doors from this country is presented on the domestic market. Finland. Finnish manufacturers create magnificent interior doors, primarily from wood. They are distinguished by conciseness and light colors. The disadvantage is the very conciseness and simplicity: Finnish doors without designer frills will not be combined with every interior. Belarus. The doors of Belarusian manufacturers have long established themselves as budget and reliable.
